  • Ambient light sensor and True Tone

Which iMacs are compatible?
27" iMacs from 2012 to 2020 and 21.5" iMacs from 2012 to 2019 (Full HD and Retina 4K). 21.5" models from before 2012 and 24" iMacs are not eligible. Not sure of your model? Enter its serial number in your request and we will check for you.
Can the cable charge a MacBook?
Yes on 27" iMacs from 2014 to 2020 (up to 60 W). On 2012 and 2013 27" iMacs and on 21.5" models, charging is not available: the cable carries picture and sound.
How does it connect?
A USB-C cable is built into the converted iMac. It plugs straight into the Thunderbolt / USB-C port of your Mac mini or MacBook, no adapter needed.
Can I use it with a PC or an iPad?
Yes, the converted iMac becomes a universal display:
  • Mac mini, MacBook or any Mac with a Thunderbolt or USB-C port
  • PC with USB-C output (DisplayPort Alt Mode)
  • iPad with USB-C port
  • Any device supporting video output over USB-C
Do the fans still run?
No. The original cooling system is removed: the converted display is silent.
Can I get the original parts back?
Yes, just let us know when you place your request.
Is it reversible?
No. Once converted, the iMac can no longer work as a computer: it becomes a dedicated display.
How long does it take?
